Prayer Cloths

PRAYER CLOTHS:

The purpose of, and why we believe in prayer cloths...

Prayer cloths can in no way provide a miracle within
the cloth itself...it is merely a point of contact ,
agreement or connection of faith between believers of
the healing virtue of Jesus Christ.  When believers
gather around and pray over a cloth and anoint it with
oil, they are putting FAITH to practice by expressing
their agreement and belief that the need has been
met...the oil represents the anointing and the power
which is in Christ Jesus performed through the Holy
Spirit to bring to fruition the necessary work.

Prayer cloths originated as an old practice of
spreading prayers that can be found throughout
Christian history and in the Bible.
Traditionally prayer cloths were taken from the
clothing of saints and/or apostles.  One of the main
scriptures that the use of prayer cloths has been
based on is found in the book of Acts.

Acts 19:11-12
And God wrought special miracles by the hands of
Paul: So that from his body were brought unto the
sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases
departed from them, and the evil spirits went out
of them.

In this chapter of the book of Acts we learn of the
apostle Paul, some of his travels, and how many
people heard the Gospel.  People were healed through
his ministry, and at times it was not from the laying on
of hands, as Paul could not be in so many places at
once... but cloths cut from his clothing were sent...and
the people were healed not because of Paul, or
because of the cloth itself, but by FAITH.

(Hebrews 11:1 says: Now faith is the substance of
things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.)

Paul knew that it was not him that performed the
miracles, but it was through Jesus, the one whom he
served and had faith in.  The Bible teaches that Jesus
Christ is the one and only begotten Son of God the
Father.  Further, that Jesus willingly came to the earth,
stepping down from his deity in heaven, to become as
mortal man.  He lived on the earth knowing his purpose
was to redeem man from sin and restore right
fellowship with the Father.  To do this He had to take on
all the cares and sins of this world.

Isaiah 53:5
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was
bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our
peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are
healed.

1 Peter 2:24
Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the
tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto
righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

Prior to the crucifixion Jesus was taken by the soldiers
for scourging which was a Roman implement of severe
bodily punishment.  Jesus was tied to a post and was
beaten with a whip that consisted of a handle with a
dozen leather cords that extended out...and on the
end tip of each cord jagged pieces of bone or metal
were attached, so that with each whip, his skin was
torn at least a dozen times over.  Jesus endured this
bodily suffering as a representation of the fulfillment
of scripture to show that He bore those stripes that
we might not have to...because in Him we ARE HEALED
through the stripes that He bore which caused the
shedding of His blood (the only perfect and everlasting
sacrifice).  Therefore, our healing has already been
granted but can only manifest through faith in what
Christ did for you and me.

Jesus Himself performed many miracles prior to the
crucifixion as well.  There are accounts of people who
were healed by REACHING OUT to touch even the hem
of His garment.  (Just a portion of His clothes...it was
not merely the cloth, but the faith in reaching out...
believing that He was the Messiah, and the Healer!)

Luke 8:40-48 (Only typed verse 43-44 and verse 46)
And a woman having and issue of blood twelve years,
which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither
could be healed of any, Came behind him (Jesus), and
touched the border of his garment: and immediately
her issue of blood stanched.  ...And Jesus said,
Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue
(healing power) is gone out of me.
Even though the
crowd around was great...Jesus knew when FAITH was
put forth.

The Bible further teaches:
Romans 2:11
For there is no respect of persons with God...

Hebrews 13:8
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and to day, and
for ever.

God does not change His character...He is still a
forgiving, patient, faithful, just, healing, delivering,
merciful, gracious, awesome God.  Although the acts
that He performed before, after, and through Christ
were thousands of years ago...they were given for us
to learn from, grow by and receive today.  Why?
Because He said in His word that these things and
greater could we do...because all power in heaven and
earth was given unto Christ, and therefore transferred
to us who believe by FAITH, accept the work of Christ
and become heirs and joint heirs with Him...
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, BECAUSE CHRIST IS NOT A
DEAD SAVIOR, BUT A LIVING ONE, WHO NOW SITS AT
THE RIGHT HAND OF THE FATHER MAKING
INTERCESSION (making prayerful petitions for our
NEEDS) FOR US!

Again, realize that the hope of healing is through
FAITH in Jesus Christ...the prayer cloth is a tool
whereby believers agree together as touching one
thing that through the joint effort of FAITH the
petition might be granted...for He says that where
two or three are gathered in His name, He is in
the midst.

Matthew 18:18-20
Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on
earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye
shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again
I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth
as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be
done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For
where two or three are gathered together in my name,
there am I in the midst of them.

Always remember, that when we accept Christ and
what He has done for us on Calvary, and when we
seek Him first and His righteousness, then all these
other things we have need of shall be added
or come
to pass!  He says that
nothing is impossible for Him.
He knew us even before we were formed in the
belly...and He knows the thoughts that He has toward
usward, and that they are of good and not evil that
we may have an expected end.  Commit yourself and
your needs unto the Lord...and He shall bring it
(your need) to pass!

(((Many people get prayer cloths or use prayer cloths
for many different reasons.  People request or send
out prayer cloths as an agreement in faith for salvation
for a lost family member, financial miracles, comfort
for the dying, the ill, those recovering from sickness,
the aged, the lonely and the fearful.  Others seek
spiritual comfort, release from depression or
oppression, family difficulties, trials and tribulations.
They are often a reminder that others are praying ,
and that the Lord is still in control...whatever your
circumstance is...GOD'S GRACE IS SUFFICIENT TO
MEET YOUR NEED!  Prayer cloths can be pinned to a
pillow, under a mattress, to a piece of clothing being
worn, tucked in a wallet, under a cushion or chair.
People having to have surgery have even had the
nurses to tape it to their medical hospital armband,
so that they have it with them.  The main thing still to
recognize is that it is an agreement of FAITH...
Faith that Christ will never leave us nor forsake us,
but will meet our needs even until the end!)))
